Such a pleasure to taste a big Rioja Gran Reserva like this Barón de Ley. Its traditional coconut and vanilla aromas from oak ageing were perfectly balanced by a pronounced black cherry and plum character. A Rioja Gran Reserva that tasted exactly as we were expecting.
This Gigondas is a wonderful wine, from a producer we’ve met completely by chance when we were living in the UK. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw we were going to taste it during the WSET 3 course. Having tasted it before, I knew it was going to be qualified – at least – […]
This Beaujolais Villages performed well. It wasn’t outstanding, that’s for sure, and probably I wouldn’t recommend it. Unless it’s for someone studying about carbonic maceration. Eleganza is a natural sweet red wine was produced by one of us, the winemaker Nicola Centonze, when he used to work for Alira winery in Romania. It’s one of the few sweet red wines currently available in the Romanian market.
I don’t know what is it that I loved the most about this Tokaji Oremus Szamorodni. Its complex, overwhelming and yet elegant sweetness? Its golden heart and pronounced inviting aromas? Or perhaps the fact that the word szamorodni represents, more or less, the way I live life.
This powerful Reserva Especial Carmenere from Chile was one of my favourites during WSET 3 course. Its nose was particularly spicy, with some incredible and deep aromas of cumin that took me back to my mother’s house when I was a child.
